CHEMICAL PEELS AND RESURFACERS
What are Chemical Peels and Resurfacers?
Chemical peeling, or chemical exfoliation, involves applying a chemical substance to the skin, intentionally causing controlled epidermal damage with or without affecting the dermis. This controlled damage prompts skin regeneration and remodelling, thereby improving overall skin appearance and texture.
Skin resurfacing with a chemical peel can restore a youthful appearance of the face while addressing medical conditions such as acne, scaring, lines/wrinkles, uneven skin tone, smoothing out skin texture and pigmentation.
The difference between a chemical peel and a resurfacer...
Resurfacers work on the very top layers of the epidermis using enzymes and acids to refine and exfoliate. Depending on products used it is possible to improve fine lines and wrinkles, control pigmentation, reduce acne breakouts and more.
Chemical peels treat the top layers but also penetrate the mid to lower levels of the epidermis, delivering stronger, extended results. Because chemical peels are so active and deeply penetrating your skin will peel, enabling you to treat at a deeper level.
